What are reborn babies?

Author: Luke

Reborn dolls are typical dolls that have been dismantled. This involves taking off the limbs (arms, legs and head) and taking all the stuffing out of the body. A typical doll that is used are berenguer dolls which are considered ideal due to the faces and proportions they come in.

Each limb is stripped of any factory conditioning such as paint, hair and unwanted plastic. They are then rebuilt by the artist who aims to get them to look as real as possible. There are many processes involved to do this and it can take quite a while to complete. While painting any of the limbs, it may involve adding multiple layers of paint or color, and additional styling on top for skin blemishes and veins. Of course, each of the limbs needs to be done in a similar style so it can take quite a lot of work to achieve this. The head also requires a lot of work other than painting since the eyelashes and hair must be added. While you can use a wig to do this, many consider microrooting mohair to look better and give more realistic results.

Many artists sell their creations on ebay where there is a growing market for them. However, the price can vary considerably with some dolls fecthing up to $100 and others going well past the $2000 mark. If you are looking at buying a reborn doll then be sure to look at the pictures of the doll as well as the price!

They are sometimes referred to by other names, although ultimatly it means the same. For example, 'living dolls', 'unliving dolls', 'reborn babies' or just simply 'reborns' are alternative names for them.

The reborning process has been around for a few years but it is still quite new and always changing. As the popularity grows and more and more artists try it out, new methods are being refined which makes it quicker and easier. Since there is no definitive way to do it, many people have developed their own techniques from start to finish. This is good for the community since it means there are many, many different ways to get the same results. However, it also means spending quite a lot on varied art supplies and equipment in order to make a reborn. For example, brushes, paints, Qtips, mohair, and of course the doll you will be reborning are only just the start of what you require.

They are not to everyones liking however and seem to split opinion from person to person. Some seem to find reborn dolls cute and adorable, whereas others find the thought of them weird and creepy. Each to their own really, but this has to be praise for the artists talents to get them looking so real.

Make Your Dreams Come True With A Fishing Vacation

Author: Paul Winter

There are a variety of great fishing vacations ideas, from weekend trips with children, to a nearby lakefront campground, to many of the world's most exotic and remote areas, to extended packaged tours. An almost universal euphemism for being on vacation is Gone Fishing. So planning a vacation around fishing seems a natural choice. Fishing is perfect for communing with nature, sport, relaxation, and it can also be a free source of food; though fishing vacations can also be quite expensive.

Fishing vacations can be as simple or complex as one chooses. One can call a travel agent or a professional fishing guide, or one can plan it themselves and pack fishing gear and sleeping bags into the car and take off.

These trips can be taken at any time of the year, and are a great way for families to share their time together, creating wonderful memories, and enjoying the outdoors together at the same time. The only essential purchase is a fishing license because it is very possible that one can rent almost anything else that may be needed. These items include a boat and crew, a rod and reel, and even a catered lunch. If a fishing vacation is properly planned the novice fisherman can have as much fun as the more serious minded fisherman. Fishing is a sport in which one does not need to be good at in order to enjoy it. As a matter of fact, a beginner can sometimes be more successful at fishing then a seasoned professional. Catch and release techniques can be used for those who are vegetarians. The fisherman gets to experience the thrill of reeling in a fish and the fish gets the worm or other bait, and everyone wins.

There are hundreds of excellent locations to take and enjoy a fishing vacation around the world. The spring and fall are great if going to Manitoba, Canada for example. This area is known as the Land of Lakes, and they produce many trophy fish. You can catch some of the best Northern Pike here, and they will put up a good fight too. In the United States, The Florida Keys offers a wide range of fishing opportunities. Blue Marlin, King Mackerel, Sailfish, and Tarpin are among the many varieties that can be caught in these beautiful waters. The Ozark Mountains of Missouri allow you to catch more fish then anywhere else in the United States.

Some tips when planning a fishing vacation no matter where you are going are; do not take all of your equipment with you unless you really want to. You can always find guide services that can provide everything you need. They can also provide any necessary fishing licenses needed. If you plan to fish out of the country make sure you are allowed to export and import the fish.

One of the best ways to find good fishing spots is to ask other fishermen where they like to fish. These small hideouts are sometimes the best fishing locations around.

A New Sea Fishing Phenomenon has arrived

Author: Escalure Fishing Tackle

http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Escalure-Fishing-Tackle

As recently featured on 'Tight Lines' on Sky Sports, this evolutionary technology has just arrived in the UK and is taking the country by storm with impressive results already being seen from Boat & Shore Sea Anglers. Esca Technology is based on the sea's own method of catching prey using lure lights as bait. Esca Technology is the only fishing product in the world that simulates natural lighting.

Esca have developed advanced Sea fishing technology for use in Esca light-emitting lures - a technology that allows our lures to generate their own power supply when in contact with seawater. The light-emitting lure is deactivated when it is no longer in contact with seawater, so Esca Technology does not need any batteries. This means that Esca Technology is environmentally friendly and is not subject to the corrosion that often forms around batteries.

The Esca Technology lure light lasts for at least 100 hours of active fishing (the time the unit spends in salt water). Esca Technology is also extremely robust and reliable. Unlike most technological electronic components, it can withstand pressures of over 500 meters in depth. Try for yourself and find out why sea anglers around the world are all talking about this product

Try different colors and frequencies to see what works best in various waters and conditions.

Esca Blue lights and Green lights are optimized to emit very specific wavelengths that mimic the predominant lure lights used by marine organisms.

Esca Blue light attractors are generally recommended for clearer waters and deeper waters because it is the wavelength that penetrates deepest and furthest.

Esca Green light attractors are generally recommended for murkier waters and shallower waters containing more particles and algae.

Try for yourself and you will see why people around the world are all talking about this product!

Fly Fishing products

Fly Fishing products

The term "fly fishing products" can be used to refer to a lot of parts of your fly fishing supplies. In this article, we'll discuss various piece of fly fishing products that are important to have on hand. You already know you need a rod and reel, but there's so much more involved in your fly fishing products.

Of course, you'll need to have a variety of flies to use as bait for the fish. Flies are meant to mimic the look and movement of a fish's natural food source. Some fish prefer different flies, and when you use what they are used to eating, your chances are better of landing a bite. Keep several different types of flies close at hand so you can choose the right fly for the specific fish you are angling for.

You will also need to have several different weights of lines so you can switch them out if you find yourself in waters with larger fish. Of course, your fly rod has a lot to do with what line to use, but if you have an 8 nwt rod and are finding some 10 pound fish, go ahead and switch to a 10 nwt line to increase your chances of winning a fight with that prize-winning trout.

Part of your fly fishing products includes what you wear while fishing. You'll need to have a good pair of waders so you can keep dry while going after your fish. Pick a pair of waders that will meet your fishing situation. Chest high waders are usually a good choice because they allow you to wade in all depths of water.

You will also need a fishing vest with lots of pockets that will hold your flies, line, and other pieces of gear. The pockets should fasten with Velcro so that you have easy access to what you need. You don't want to be on the water and realize you need a different fly only to miss out on a passing school of fish because you were fumbling with your pockets.

A good pair of fishing pliers is almost a necessity. Many rivers and streams are exclusively catch and release water. That means that once you catch the fish, you need to let it go. This helps propagate the population and promote healthy fishing at all times. You will want an easy way to get the hook out of the fish's mouth without causing harm to its body. Fishing pliers are designed to do just that.

Finally, your fly fishing products should include a waterproof camera. If you are lucky enough to land a whopper, you'll want to document it as part of your prize!

When you are amassing your fly fishing products, things can eventually get out of hand. Many fly fishermen have an abundance of gear with the possibility that they might need something specific in a certain situation. That's just fine, but the essentials that are listed above are a start, please click here for more information on fly fishing products

Go Chase The Pike With A Fly..

Author: Bigblue

I moved slowly upstream peering intently into the gin clear water, the bright sunshine allowed me to see every pebble, stick and even the minnows in the bottom of the pool. No breeze ruffled the surface. A shoal of bait fish hung close to a weed bed. Nothing moved as I peered intently into the water. The combination of my long peaked cap, and polarised glasses helped me search deep into the flowing water.

I blinked, and then squinted. Did I see a pike? Yes, there it is, I spotted a fin movement, then a tail moved, enough for me to realise I was looking at a pike. The perfect predator. My eyes move slowly up the length of a fish, it must be thirty inches or more in length. My heart beat a little faster as my brain went into overdrive as I computed the angle of the cast, then distance to target. I launched some line, then realised I needed a bit more. I pulled a few more feet from the reel. All the time I was keeping my eyes on the fish. I was the hunter; the hunted is a fish that goes back a few million years. It probably weighs 14lbs It's there for catching, if I don't make a mistake.

The fish is moving slowly upstream, I have just one chance. I shot the line, the fly landed with a slight plop, hardly breaking the water surface. The fish moves its head slightly then slowly turns. This is the moment I have been waiting for all morning. I twitched the line imparting life into the fly - a fly that was created in Northern Canada. It's tied up on a 3/0 Partridge hook using Polar bear hair and a few strands of crystal flash. It's some six inches long and comes alive in the water when moved.

I made a six inch strip; the pike was off the starting block moving fast towards my fly, creating a bow wave. I gave another quick strip of some three inches. The big one couldn't resist it, there was a big swirl, a boil. Then the fly had disappeared as the fish turned for the deep water. The strip strike set the hook, his speed and momentum carried the fish skywards, head shaking, gills flared. For a second, perhaps two, I stand spellbound, watching this fighting fury crash back into the water. It's like an explosion as the water erupts, the ever increasing circles going across the river. After some minutes the fish is bought to hand. I bend down then take the barbless hook from the scissors of the pike's mouth then watch it swim off slowly. Below is what I made to catch the pike, go ahead and try it for yourself

If you were to take a look in the fly boxes of a few anglers who target the pike, you will discover hundreds of different fly patterns. Just as today's anglers fishing for rainbow trout, carry several boxes of fly patterns, but only use a dozen flies. It's the same with us anglers who target the pike. I have several boxes of flies for pike, but for most of my fishing I probably only use a dozen patterns - but with various colour combinations that dozen probably grows to a hundred or more. Most of my pike flies are tied up on Partridge CS43 2/0 to 4/0 or Cox and Rawle Uptide 1/0 TO 5/0 A few flies have been tied up on Ade Sweider designed hooks.

One of my most successful pike fly patterns is without doubt the Polar fly. It's tied as follows.

Tail-white Polar bear hair, not synthetic hair, and pearl crystal.

Body- pearl fritz or silver tinsel strip. The wings of white Polar bear hair, again not synthetic hair with pearl crystal hair.

Remarks- Two types of bodies should be tied up, as one will often work when the other doesn't. I don't know why this is so but that's the nature of the beast. This pattern is also excellent for many saltwater species including the bass

Other patterns are the Polar perch with a tail of Polar hair, a body of gold tinsel with 12lb mono rib. The wings are yellow buck with green buck over tying with black silk. You can add purple crystal hair strands to wing, create barring effect on wing with black permanent pen. A fly pattern I really like is the Red tailed rat. There are many occasions when pike ignore a submerged fly, but will savagely hit a surface fished one. The Red tailed rat is quite simple to tie, with a tail of red buck and red crystal hair. The body is black deer hair, wedge shaped, tying silk is black. At one time I had eyes fixed on these mouse and rat type patterns, but I now feel they are a waste of time and money. All the pike will see is an outline of the red tailed rat as it is worked across the surface. Takes are usually very savage.

The tail of this fly comprises two orange marabou left on the quill, with a body of orange marabou with some silver oval, tinsel rib or orange cock hackle, palmered down the body. Wings are four orange cock hackle. Purple crystal hair may be added to the tail and wing. This is a good pattern for coloured water.

Thread-white and chartreuse, Tail-white buck tail, shank length, inside white neck hackles (2 each side), extending one and a half times shank length, Body-silver tinsel with a collar of white buck tail, extending nearly to tip of tail. Topping-is chartreuse buck tail, as long as collar. Throat-several strands of red Krystal Flash. The head-is Chartreuse thread, lacquered. Eyes Applied with Faber-Crystall uni-point marker.

I also have two frog patterns which have proved excellent fish catchers. We all know how pike love weeds, my frog patterns can be fished in the thickest of weeds, without getting caught up. When fishing reed beds I have had pike come a foot out of the water to grab a frog pattern as I pulled the frog up the reed stems..

Rods Reels and Lines

The Tackle Shop stocks a great selection of Fly  Fishing combo's and rods. In your tackle shop you will find several brands of line which will be suitable for chucking big flies for pike. One line will not cover all aspects of pike fly fishing. To get the best out of the sport, you need at least three lines. Cortland lines are my first choice, the nine weight Ghost tip is probably my most used line. I can fish flies from the surface, down to four or five feet, depending on the speed of retrieve. This line comes with a fifteen foot clear tip, which is then built into a floating line, it will also lift cleanly off the water. Two other Cortland lines I use are both sinkers, a medium and fast sink. It's surprising how often you will use a fast sink line when fishing the big reservoirs and gravel pits. When fishing with a fast sink line I will often use a leader of three feet, perhaps eighteen inches.

To buy some of the products I have been talking about try The Tackle Shop or for Fly Fishing Books or DVD's go The Fishing Shop

A Sea Fishing Phenomenon is here..

Hear what Esca staff have to say about this fantastic new product

It turns out that fishing from a party boat is an excellent place to field test a product. With a cross section of anglers, fishing with similar rigs, outfits and baits all in virtually the same location at the same time under the same conditions makes for a reasonably scientific laboratory for which to measure results of fishing products. It was a blustery, overcast day in mid May aboard the Peconic Star, out of Greenport, NY. We set out to test a unique new product called Esca for catching fluke and it was perfectly logical to think it would work, but I still couldn’t help being skeptical.

While I’ve experienced that certain fluke rigs and bucktails work better than others and I have become a believer in scented baits as well, Esca is different. Esca, a Norwegian Company, is a high tech fish attractor the size of a quarter that emits flashes of light, mimicking the luminescence characteristics of squid and other baitfish. Various marine species have developed specialized lightemitting organs called esca. Esca means lure light, and it is used by important organisms in the sea, such as krill and squid. Esca is also the name of the light organ of the anglerfish. This has a long modified dorsal fin with a light organ at the end, which is the esca itself. The anglerfish lies motionless on the seabed using its esca to attract other fish.

When the prey goes for the esca, the anglerfish strikes and swallows the prey whole. For the anglerfish, Esca is the ultimate lure. We figured that for Esca to be effective, it had to be in the darkness of night. But we were fluke fishing in daytime so we had to select a location for it to be used in deeper water, which is one of the reasons we decided to fluke fish with the Peconic Star, which fishes in water as deep as 70 feet. We needed enough depth for it to be dark off the bottom for the Esca light to be a factor. We also wanted to be in the Peconic Bay off Shelter Island, a known place where squid typically are present in mid May, as are some very large fluke. Capt. Dave Brennen of the Peconic Star has had many anglers featured in The Fisherman reports and covers for years. Rigging Esca was an unknown, so we had to improvise.

Esca is packaged either with a treble hook, or with special squid skirt. For one rig we removed the treble using only the Esca itself and rings as a component of a typical three-way rig. We tied the Esca in line with the hook swinging about 6 inches above the hook. Another rig was tied with the skirted squid body with a three-way rig. We used the bait that the crew of the Peconic Star offered: squid, spearing, sand eels. Current/ wind was heavy that day and we used 6-plus-ounce weights, but the rigging didn’t twist or tangle. What’s amazing about this product is that it really is a technological marvel.

The lure actually generates its own power when in contact with seawater through electrolysis so Esca needs no batteries. The light-emitting lure is deactivated when it is no longer in contact with seawater. It lasts through up to 100 hours of active fishing and can withstand pressures at depths of up to 500 meters, which is good news for tilefishing and other deep water drop fishing. So, how’d we do? There were four of us fishing with Esca rigs that day and another 25 people on the boat. Many seemed to be experienced anglers and had a reasonable pick of shorts, fewer keeper fluke counts and a mess of sea robins. We weren’t so scientific, or so obnoxious as to count every fish caught, but if you’ve ever been on a party boat, you know well who’s catching the most fish.

Clearly this day, it was team Esca. We simply caught more fluke than others on that boat that day, but more importantly we seemed to have a significantly better keeper ratio. Believe me; we don’t claim to be better anglers than anyone else on that boat that day. In fact, Morten Bilet of Esca won the pool with the largest fluke! The kicker is he’s never fluke fished before. There’s only one conclusion for what we experienced, Esca does give you an edge when catching fluke in deep water and deserves a closer look, especially for ocean fluking. Here’s a thought, as a next step, I’ll try Esca for Fluke at night! Why not? I’ll also try it for stripers, tilefish, cod, sea bass and other bottom dwellers. I’m definitely intrigued by the initial results. Try one yourself, visit http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Escalure-Fishing-Tackle

Vintage Fishing Lures - Great Spots To Find Them

Author: Abhishek Agarwal

There is a constant increasing trend in the number of persons who are into vintage fishing lures collection. This phenomenon expands to all countries where fishing is being practiced as a sports or hobby. To name some countries, Japan, United States, Scandinavian countries, Canada, South America and The United Kingdoms practice collecting, trading and even selling vintage fishing lures.

The finest thing that hinders the collection of vintage fishing lures and tackles is the wide distance to travel. Collectors typically had to walk off to many different places since only few vintage or antique lures are available in one area. On the other hand, they can also rely on the photos sent to them by mail or meetings of collectors or even in exhibits to widen their collections.

Internet is very helpful in having vintage fishing lures collection from anywhere through out the world. Many websites offers plenty of hits for collectors. All you have to do is to get online, do some browsing and investigating. Google for one, provides more than one half million hits when you typed the keywords such as antique or vintage fishing lures in the search engine. There are plenty of collectors from England, Scotland, Mexico and many areas across North America that displays their collections and offers them for sale or for trade in the internet. Single email of instant message will make it easy for you to gather more information or request for additional photos, you can even transfer images of collections with digital quality pictures through your web cams.

Many collectors, particularly those who are regularly trading vintage fishing lure collections have large websites, also provides some evaluations and value assessment of the collections. You may browse at these sites, especially if you are a beginner in collecting lures. This will be very useful for you to get some idea about valuations before laying prices on your collections if you are planning to sell online.

Some online auction sites such as EBay are alluring when buying vintage lures but keep in mind that there are several people selling lures who are sometimes unsure of what they are really selling. They may also forget to mention whether their collections were restored or touched up for photographs, so better make sure that you look at the feedback score and comments before paying too much bucks from an unknown or unreliable online sellers. Several collectors do not ordinarily sell their lures on EBay. Mostly, they stay under the collecting or trading websites that offer collections between established collectors.

Great places where you can see antique and vintage fishing lures are often found in garage sales, estate sales and even in sporting exhibitions. Best chance where you can find rare lures is often found in garage sales and estate sales. These may sell pristine-conditioned lures especially when they were stored in their original boxes for long period of time.

Beginner Fly Fishing Techniques, Casting the Fly

Author: mike legg

I was put off of fly fishing for years simply because I thought it would be too hard to learn. There is so much hype about casting a fly with a fly rod, different actions and movements that it all sounds too complicated for the poor beginner. Well the art of casting a fly is in truth really quite simple, and with a few beginner fly fishing techniques just about anyone can do it.

With fly fishing your aim is to cast your fly and have it land naturally on the water so that it attracts fish. The main problem with this is that you have no weight on the end of your line to propel it to where you want it to go. Instead you are using a heavy main line with a short piece of very light line attached, onto which you tie your fly.

This means that you use the weight of the line itself to make the cast, and this involves letting out line a little at a time, then casting it behind you, casting it forwards, letting out more line, casting behind, bringing it forwards and so on. This is called false casting and allows you to build up the cast until enough line is let out to land the fly where you want it.

With a small amount of practise this will get easier and easier. Start off small by trying out your casting on an area of clear grass, in a field or a large garden, there is no need to use a fly or hook at this point as it could become snagged or injure someone.

(1)Let out about twenty feet of line in front of you, stand nice and loose and point the rod in front of you so that the rod and line form a continuous straight line.

(2)Hold the rod with your thumb resting on the top of the handle. During the cast you will only be moving your wrist and forearm and not your shoulder.

(3)Trap the line coming from the reel under a finger and raise the rod to about ten o’clock, then flick the rod backwards to pick the line up off the grass, and propel it behind you until it is at one o’clock

(4)Stop the movement sharply, and your wrist should be pointing straight up with the tip of the rod behind you still at one o’clock.

(5)Now you have to pause slightly to let the line straighten out behind you until you feel a gentle tug (this is when the line is fully extended).

(6)Sweep the rod forward and down, lowering your elbow at the same time. As the line unfurls release the line trapped under your finger.

(7)To increase the length of cast flick the rod back again and while trapping the line under your finger pull a few yards of line off with your other hand, cast the rod forward as before and release the trapped line.

You are now fly fishing. You may be a bit awkward at first, but with a little practice you will look and feel like a professional. These are just your first basic steps to fly fishing, by picking up a few more beginner fly fishing techniques you will soon learn all the secrets and tips of the fly fisherman.
